It's an exercise in the difference between conceivability and possibility. John wants to argue for conceivability, and take that as a pass for possibility, and not just logical possibility, but actual possibility. He would like to clear the 1 inch bar of "whatever the fuck john or the houscat can imagine" and be credited for nine feet of cold hard christ irl.
