You undersell yourself.

Thank you!

Refer to the article if it isn't immediately obvious.

I thought I cleared that up earlier. Hey ho.

Maybe this will move the discussion along.

From the Rules:

Quote: In the interests of communication, we ask that members do not diverge from definitions of words that are found in established dictionaries.

It was implied by the discussion that one was diverging from such already, so I don't see this quotation of the rules as relevant. Technically speaking, whether an animal has a head that resembles a beach ball, or a head that literally is a beach ball, either way one has already departed from dictionary definitions. Either animal or organism would be classified as a different species, and presuming the reasoning abilities of cladists has not gone on holiday, it wouldn't be an elephant. The hypothetical only makes sense if one is already speaking in terms of an organism that only resembles an elephant in part. Otherwise it's a rather pedestrian exercise in taxonomy.

Christ, faith chutes, elephant balls, and now unicorns....but..strangely, not ariel.  The only thing that's obvious here is we now have to wonder what you have against mermaids. I don't get it, there doesn't seem to be a silly thing you won't believe in but you're choking up on fish people?

Precisely; without granting possibility I'm incapable of doing much else. And surely, that's understandable.
Possibility has to be demonstrated, it would be absurd to simply presuppose it, for anything.

It's an exercise in the difference between conceivability and possibility.  John wants to argue for conceivability, and take that as a pass for possibility, and not just logical possibility, but actual possibility.  He would like to clear the 1 inch bar of "whatever the fuck john or the houscat can imagine" and be credited for nine feet of cold hard christ irl.

Square circles are possible, you just have to have faith.

One could simply presuppose they are possible, then insist they transcend mathematics, geometry and language.

Sucks for your god, then.  I think you really might want to do some work on your faith before you try to stand up for it with the heathens - and I mean that in a genuine and understanding way.  I'm absolutely sure that your beliefs are not as silly as you feel compelled to present them as.   They may be wrong, they may even be impossible, but I find it hard to believe that you, as a believer, are so completely unserious about it. That your actions here reflect the contempt you hold us all in, and not the contents of your faith.
