What an odd way to form beliefs, it is very edifying though, perhaps this is why the sheeple are so easily manipulated by organised religions, they simply don't use critical or objective thinking to examine claims, it's all about their emotional response.(May 7, 2025 at 12:58 pm)John 6IX Breezy Wrote: Correct; it almost certainly plays a role and colors the way I evaluate evidence for them.
Weird dude. I don't personally feel any sort of animus about most gods. Some of them are downright fun - and yet I don't believe in them anymore than I believe in yours. Maybe, like people keep telling you, believing in a god (or any other thing) is not quite like not believing in a god or that other thing. Thus, the things that motivate you as a believer may not be operative in those who do not believe.
I remember a documentary about the Holocaust and the second world war, someone had researched into people who risked their lives to try and save Jewish people from the Nazis, it crossed multiple nationalities and cultures, but many of them tended to have one thing in common, they had been raised to question everything, and to examine the consequences of actions.
I found this:
"Analysis of the results suggests that theists are more inclined than atheists to endorse moral values that promote group cohesion.
Meanwhile, atheists are more likely to judge the morality of an action based on its consequences."
