Trump calls for alarms after deadly Texas floods
President Donald Trump on Thursday expressed support for flood alarms in Texas and said he thinks “everyone’s doing a great job” responding to a disaster that has left more than 100 people dead and 170 people missing.
“After having seen this horrible event, I would imagine you’d put alarms up in some form, where alarms would go up if they see any large amounts of water or whatever it is,” Trump told NBC News’ "Meet the Press" moderator Kristen Welker in a phone interview Thursday.
A plan that was rejected by Gov Abbott almost ten years ago.
Another option might be not fucking gutting FEMA so that those who are impacted get help. But nooooo ... that's too nice and softy. We here in the Hill Country have these floods every year. This one was tragically huge. The Guadalupe River rose thirty foot in about an hour. Everyone here knows how the gullies channel waters; when I worked at the nature preserve I saw one that lifted the Pedernales at Hammett's Crossing by twenty-five feet, the day after the peak had passed. I can't say how fast it rose, but I can say that the torrent in the river was terrifying.
Water weighs 8.35 lbs/gal. When it gets moving in volume, nothing will stop it, you can only get the fuck out of the way. You can't fix what elephants do.
