There’s been some conspiratorial chatter about this:

Did Trump Steal The Resolute Desk?

If it was about any other US president in living memory, my reaction would be, ‘What are you…fucking stupid?’. But this is Trump, so…maybe.

Over the weekend, a photograph of what appears to be the Resolute Desk circulated on X (formerly Twitter), from Patriot Takes, an account “monitoring and exposing right-wing extremism and other threats to democracy.” “Trump has a copy of the Resolute Desk on display in the Mar-a-Lago lobby,” they posted, with a photograph of the desk behind velvet ropes:

Soon, many wondered: Is it a copy of the Resolute Desk, or the actual Resolute Desk at Mar-a-Lago?

Given that there have been many copies made of the Resolute Desk, this is probably one of them. On the other hand, given Trump’s known propensity of just taking whatever the hell he wants, it’s not implausible that the one in the Oval Office is a copy.
