They're having their noses rubbed in the fact that they're about to go from being powerful to being unemployed. One of the few plays that they may have that would allow them to break from Trump in a way that even his supporters couldn't object to much would be if it was revealed that he knew about Epstein, or actively participated. It's a weakness and they may exploit it. If they don't, the mid-terms will be a re-run of 2018, and they know it. If that happens, there are going to be congressional hearings and investigations about it.
Whether it's fighting within Republican ranks or the Democrats that bring it, you can expect this to not die a quiet death.
In short, they're going to have to destroy their village in order to save it.
