According to NBC News, Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll says that “Inevitable defeat awaits Ukraine."

The New York Times reports that

Mr. Driscoll believes that the war must be settled soon, including on terms more favorable to Russia, because Ukraine’s military is near a breaking point.

In part I think that these statements are intended as self-fulfilling prophecy. The US could keep the war going a while longer if it wanted to. But Driscoll announcing that it's time to wind things down is a way of telling us that it's going to go that way.

The Times of London says that Kiev won't last until spring.

I also notice that you will not address my point that so long as Ukrainians want to fight, even battlefield defeat would likely result in an insurgency Russia simply cannot afford.
