The New York Times reports that

In part I think that these statements are intended as self-fulfilling prophecy. The US could keep the war going a while longer if it wanted to. But Driscoll announcing that it's time to wind things down is a way of telling us that it's going to go that way.
The Times of London says that Kiev won't last until spring.

I also notice that you will not address my point that so long as Ukrainians want to fight, even battlefield defeat would likely result in an insurgency Russia simply cannot afford.
