^I see two scenarios.
1) The raccoon in question had just graduated from raccoon high school and was celebrating with his dirt bag buddies who abandoned him when he passed out.
2) The raccoon had been sober for years. When his business went bankrupt and his wife left him (and got his collection of vintage baseball cards in the divorce), he relapsed.
