The problem with disinformation is when you start believing your own -- or when your subordinates start practicing it on you.

Happened in my company
First we bullshitted customers, then management started to believe their own lies. Underlings who weren't following were dismissed .
Net result: 50% of r&d laid off. Company split due to the fact that we turned big profits into net losses. Top management now working for competitors and former customers.
