It's not that "X Christians act this way, so all Christians do," it's that Christians hold themselves up to be better people than those who aren't Christian, but then you have idiots like the Phelps family who are nothing more than hate mongers. Yet when normal Christians look at the Phelpses, they claim that they're not true Christians instead of admitting that some Christians do things which aren't Christ-like. And they still hold onto this idea that Christians are better than atheists who don't persecute gays or protest military funerals.
