Quote: Those books were books of law for the people pre-jesus era.
Not according to many Jews, including Yeshua/Yoshua bar Yusuf, who admonished his followers to keep the Law : Matthew 5: 17-19.
Quote:Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
The Torah, New Testament and Qur'an are so contradictory that followers of all of the Abrahamic faiths are forced to cherry pick the emphasis of their faith. Hence there are dropkicks like Fred Phelps, those ultra conservative areswipes in Jerusalem who spat on an 8 year old child, and Muslim suicide bombers. There are also many Christians whose lives quietly bear witness to their faith. There are Muslim Sufi mystics and Jewish Cabalists, who spend their lives in a quest to be with God. Most believers are just ordinary people who who do their best to lead good lives.Same goes for the atheists I know.
The LAST thing I want or need is to be patronised by some smug, wilfully ignorant apologist insisting I'm taking Christian teachings out of context, stereotyping or "just don't understand" .
PLEASE stop doing it, there's a good chap. I'm starting to get peeved. IE one step along from miffed and one away from a perfect tizzy, when I may say some very unkind and very coarse words.
