If religion ceased overnight, in my opinion you would not notice the difference.As a species, humans would remain the same aggressive,greedy and stupid animals we have always been.
The poor would still be poor,the starving would still starve,the strong would still prey on the weak. But mostly,people would still simply get on with their lives as they always have.
Of course,there would still be emotionally needy and weak people who just have to have somebody to tell them how to live. Such people might turn to say political personality cults,as found in totalitarian states and to a lesser degree in the US.
