My experience is with most Muslims, is that they believe if you are a good person, you will enter paradise. A lot think you have to believe in God, but other then that, if you are a good person, you will enter paradise.
There is a contradiction in Quran actually, but different people will pick on one side or the other.
There is verses that whom disbelieves in Islam from the people of the book and polytheists are the worst creatures.
Then there is this more wider forbearing view:
[2.62] Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.
A lot of Muslims will say the above verse is about people before Mohammad and others will take it as something that remains true of today.
