And as for someone who killed my child, I would much rather they get a life sentence if executing them meant that even one innocent person could be executed in the process. Then again, I would probably make sure they weren't around to serve a life sentence myself, however, I would make sure no innocent would be hurt in the process. Yes, it would be revenge, and I am not afraid to admit that it would be an appeal to baser emotions. I would not, however, seek revenge if it meant even one innocent person was hurt in the process.
As long as you're aware that even you believe that it is ok to kill people when it is absolutely justified. Don't worry, you're not alone, everyone feels that way ... they just hate admitting it.
Innocent people die every day. Even on a legitimate battlefield there are "acceptable losses". Millions die unfairly. I find it completely unacceptable to burden our society with scum bags to safeguard a tiny percentage of unlucky individuals when there are millions upon millions of unlucky individuals all over the globe dying for various unwarranted reasons.

Its absolutely legitimate. You said so yourself.
If they can't get the incarceration system right, how the HELL can you trust them with human life.
Proclaimers of the virtues of the death penalty seem to couple it with a utopian incorruptible system to ensure only the "obviously" guilty are killed.
Experience should tell you, that is not only highly unlikely, but almost certain not to be the case.
The death penalty is like communism, it sounds like a great idea, until you try to implement it.
First of all, you need to get your quotes right. I never said this:
Quote:If they can't get the incarceration system right, how the HELL can you trust them with human life. Please do not misquote me again.
Secondly, I never claimed that any system is incorruptible. Please do not put words in my mouth to make your argument.
Thirdly, you said that "experience should tell you" ... what experience? This country has never instituted what I am proposing so you need to qualify that statement.
Fourthly, communism and the death penalty??? The death penalty IS implemented in this country so exactly what are you talking about???
