Why? Because you say so? Doing something just to save your soul or because you believe your savior wants you to is not a deeper sense of morality. It is pandering to your deity. A deeper sense of morality would be if you could figure out why to do good on your own.
Also, our reasons for our actions do very much matter. That is why we differentiate between manslaughter and murder.
