At 8 I beaned a bully with a half brick.
At 11 another bully sat on my chest and tried to put grass into my mouth. I bit his finger to the bone.
At 12 a kid at school took a swing at me and missed. I punched him and broke a rib.
In 1964,age 17,I did my chewy with a bloke at work who had been riding me for year. Hit him with one of those big swivel office office chairs. He deflected it and was not hurt.I
was fired. Not being entirely gormless,it occurred to me that the time had come to stop using violence as a means to an end. I have not done so since.
Karate and Judo both taught me self control and gave me the confidence to realise I had nothing to prove.
