I'd say you are correct, but only in what I have quoted. I am an atheist but that does not mean I believe in atheism. I wouldn't know how to believe in nothing, it's pretty hard and something even the best minds have difficulty with. I simply choose not to believe in a divine being.
What I love about these debates is when those on one side of the fence try to tell the those on the other side what they believe. It's easy to do this when the other side has a well documented and understood belief system, but not so when they don't. If atheists claim to not believe in God, that does not indicate a belief system. It does not necessarily indicate the lack of a belief system either, but you should not make assumptions.
I believe a better question from the OP would have been... "As an atheist, what do you believe in?". Now those could be interesting answers.
