It's also common for people to be rational in most areas,but quite loopy in just one or more.EG I'm unable to talk rationally about the school I attended,as I was physically abused,over many years.
I've mentioned this a few times before on various forums, but it's worth repeating:
In context,most religious belief are both rational and sane,but mistaken. The logic tends to be inductive and VALID,but based on insufficient evidence.The inferences are therefore usually unsound,NOT absolutely wrong. [no one knows for a fact] . Religious beliefs become pathological when they become obsessive and lead to harming of self or others. Before that,imo, they're really only an irritation to the intolerant and intellectually arrogant. (I can be both)
The above is only my opinion,derived from my discipline (Cultural Anthropology) and my hobby (history) over a 30 year period.
