You are not being prevented from discussing anything. If you have a problem with someone/someone's post in a thread, just ignore them. You can use the button or do what I do (scroll on past).

Quote:I believe this loophole should be closed to prevent any further exploitation by people who have similar ideas of using multiple threads to force their own agenda on others. It would be protecting the very thing which the majority of people go to forums for; the ability to discuss a wide variety of interesting subjects.

I believe we should not bar minorities from being able to discuss subjects important to them and no/few others. One does not retain a subject by banning its mention and discussion in all threads.

Already, if a derail continues long/far enough: it gets split. How is this not ideal for you? If you run into a thread and you want to discuss the OP: simply report the post that you think need to be split... and the staff will make an executive decision from there. What else could you possibly want?

I never said ban a subject, I'm suggesting that people not be allowed to monopolyse numerous unrelated threads at a time with one subject.
Example; if I go on threads to do with Buddhism, Autism, Ducks and Teletubbies and monopolyse those threads by sparking off debates on the wonders of meth I should definitely be warned. Not because of the subject matter but because I have disrupted the various discussions that were going on about those subjects with the only one I wanted to discuss. I could of made a thread on the wonders of meth instead but I've chosen not to.
Why is this such an odd concept?
The point of this thread is to discuss a potential rule change, I am simply expressing that I'm for it.
