Make the "civil" discussion part of the forum invisible to non members
Seeing as it's simply a wankfest for the worst members on the site anyway, I don't see why I should be subjected to it every time I log in and check the new posts button.

I know it's not impossible, because A69 was invisible to me until I became a member.

Well, I'm looking forward to it, but I may be one of the worst members on the site.

These people are also posting there:

Whateverist, RoadRunner79,  Gae Bolga, Catholic_Lady, Tiberius, Kit, pocaracas, vulcanlogician, Jörmungandr, and others.

Are they also worst?

Just give it time. It'll die down sooner or later once it's past its honeymoon phase. I mean, look at the state of the one-to-one Debate section.

EDIT: Maybe not R'lyeh, but then again, that's more exciting than the civil crap.

The civility forum is offensive to you?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I was told that no one is saying that!

Sorry, but you're just trolling wololo here. You've posted previously that you're not a fan of his, and that you had him on ignore. (But maybe you've taken him off ignore since then.)

I can make a guess that perhaps some of the objection to the visibility of Civil Discussion threads is that they require additional care not to accidentally invest one's time in one, only to realize they don't want to or can't participate on those terms. Thus the visibility of that forum section becomes a burden on those who aren't interested in it and gain no benefit from it existing. As to its being offensive, I don't really sympathize with such concerns. I guess I'm just a heartless bitch that way.

The "civil" discussion thread appears to me to be a catering to the beliefs of the religious' wanting a forum, so that they don't have to hear the more vociferous atheist's responses. I'm well and truly over using any of my time discussing religion with a religious person. I'm already used to seeing the forum in the line items of the "Latest Threads" and am perfectly capable of ignoring that fluff the same way that my eyes slide right over the religious posting in the rest of the forum. I do, however, consider such a forum to be a vehicle for lending a bit of legitimacy to religious arguments.

TL;DR- I won't be looking in on that forum. Good on you, Tiberius, for providing a playground for them. It makes it easier for me to ignore the religious BS.

I don't think there should be private clubs.  For that reason, I never joined A69, either.
