The trick wasn't in making your legs of equal length, the trick was making you think they weren't of equal length in the first place. If you never noticed it before and your doctor never noticed it before, you should be skeptical of the diagnosis. Don't feel bad about being fooled, magicians fool us all the time but do us the courtesy of letting us know they're tricking us. Similar tricks without the caveat are at the root of many a psychic's or faith healer's career.
