I definitely am not assuming anything because it isn't my place to do so, but I figure it would be a good opportunity to explain why I feel the way I do about the ruling and all.
My father passed away when I was five and my mother raised me solely by herself for over twenty years. I'm extremely fortunate to share a closeness with her even though it can be a love-hate relationship, but I still love her to bits. And she has provided me with so much that I'm blessed with an awesome home and family.
I guess I just have a more positive look on these things. I know there are a lot of screwed up parents and people in general, in this world, but I still believe in good existing. I do feel strongly about certain things of course. So please forgive me if I seem a little stubborn in this instance. I definitely agree with all your points though!
You are truly one of the lucky ones, just as I was to some extent when it came to the relationship with my parents. (I didn't meet my parents until I was a older..my extreme southern Baptist grandmother is who raised me)...
As far as my parents, after I finally did have a relationship with them, I knew that I would always be able to talk with them about anything, so this law would not have made a difference. Now, if it would have been my grandmother, I would have cut off my own leg to make sure in not facing her with any information in which would go against her Bible thumping morals......
