Our state and federal governments subside a large slice of the costs of similar sorts of "Christian" (read Evangelical) schools were in Australia. Some in Australia would like to see a voucher system like that introduced here. All in the name of increasing "school choice" for parents and smashing the power of the teacher unions. Although even our Fundamentalist Christians aren't as insane as the American variety and that is saying something.
If such a voucher system was introduced, many more kids who currently don't go to those schools (because their parents cant afford to) would be exposed to that sort of "Christian" education. While I support school vouchers and "privatizing" the state school system, I do believe they still need some requirements on what these schools should be teaching children. As I see it Young Earth Creationism is like Geo-centrism and therefore should not be taught in science classes.
