Curious about different views on homosexuality
#21
RE: Curious about different views on homosexuality
Quote:He used the "Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve," argument, which is easily argued. Suppose God did place the first couple here on Earth. Alright. One would assume that, essentially, the first people on our planet would have the responsibility of building the population. Having children is physically impossible for two men, so "Adam and Eve" may not have been a stab at gays, but simply means for humanity to start.
Even for just Adam and Eve it would still be impossible to continue the species. Inbreeding is fatal to the survival of any species. The brother and sister will have to mate, so will their offspring. It's genetically/biologically impossible. Inbreeding causes many physical problems. Organ failer, immune system failer, defections, heart problems. Also considering that back then there were no modern hospitals with state of the art technology and medicine. Though even today we'd have trouble overcoming the effects of inbreeding.
So no, there never was an Adam and an Eve. It's a lie.

Quote: I'm looking for a non religious reason to hate gays. To which he replied, "Damn... I'll get back to you when I think of one."

So, what are your views/opinions?
I can't think of a secular reason to hate people who are different from myself. Homophobia is nothing but the result of sheer intolerance and hatred. Such people do not belong in the modern world. Build a time machine and send them back to the dark ages where hating people for being different is normal, common and very much accepted behaviour.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
