I think in philosophy you need to be black and white. This thought of yours might go either way depending on the individual's involvement and commitment to their faith like you've said.
Let's think of someone that's completely sold out on God though. I think my point still stands that they would not lose their faith because there's 101 verses that will be running through their head about Christians having it hard because of their faith.
