I've been thinking a lot about that myself. As much as I want to be able to say that there are nice, normal, reasonable people who happen to be Republican, it's getting harder and harder to say. The party is starting to lose touch with reality. 12 years ago, when Bush was initially elected, I disagreed with the party but I could respect them as a reasonable alternative to the Democrats. Then 9/11 happened and they took a hard right and ever since then, they've gone beyond 'far right' into 'crazy right' territory. I can't believe I miss Newt Gingrich as speaker of the house.
