In any case, they key about freedom of speech is that you are free to say it. You are not necessarily free from the consequences of saying it. For instance, I support the right of militant Islamic clerics in Britain to preach hate, but I also support the police when they decide to monitor those clerics and their associates for links to terrorism / terrorist plots.
People should be punished for their actions, not for their words.
