Maybe they're trying to appease both the gay rights people and the homophobes. Actually, given the circumstances, it seems like a wise decision.
Yeah, I do think that's what they're going for. Get the conservatives all worked and quietly concede afterward. Honestly, I think very little will actually change, though. Their president Dan Cathy is still highly homophobic. Now he'll be making donations to hate groups in his own name instead of in the company name. Which means money spent at Chick-fil-a will still be used to fund hate groups, but less directly.
