This might have more to do with what you're calling "arrogance", sports aren't important, so it easy too say "I don't play sports because I have more important things too do. So that's why I am not a coach, It doesn't however mean, that I don't know how, to do the coach's job better than him."
because we give so much authority to, such a stupid, worthless, job as "sport's coach", we have skewed views on authority
