The 9 points are common things I have heard Christians say on this forum and around the internet. Also the " how do you know if the points are true or not?" bit is why I am asking YOU!!!!. I want you to tell me if they're right or wrong and correct me, I want to know if you really believe them and if they're accurate or not. I want to see things from your eyes that not been corrupted by somebody else with their own goals and your view on those points, That's the whole point of the thread. Do you get it now? Or do I have to do a complete essay on what thread was about?
I know exactly what your intention of this thread was/is. You were hoping to ridicule Christians and call them crazy...
But here we are, you are still implying that those 9 points are believed by Christians and I'm here telling you to do you own research. I'm gonna assume that you believe those 9 points come from the Bible as Christians seem to be your target, am I correct in that assumption?
So, back to your point #3...
"3. He only allows those who follow him without question to experience bliss and there rest get eternal punishment."
If you believe everything you've been told and/or read the Bible only in it's English translation, I understand why you and others would believe that. However, if you question everything and actually read the Bible for yourself, I think (hope) that you will find inconsistencies in that interpretation.
Case in point #1: The Greek word that was translated to "eternal" is aeon (ion). which means "an age", an unspecified amount of time that was usually refering to an astrological "age" (age of Aquarius, etc.). The Greek word that is the closest match to "eternal" is aidios which was never used as a description for punishment.
Case in point #2: The parable of the good Samaritan, the fact that Yeshua told his followers that a Roman centurian had more faith than all of them and The book of Romans 1 and 2 show that one does NOT have to be a "believer" to gain eternal life and should disprove your point #3 about "only" unquestioning believers receiving bliss...
Case in point #3: You say "without question", but the bible instructs the reader to seek the truth, to prove all things and to love God with all your mind. Does that sound like "without question" to you???
So there you have it... One point, and a whole sheetload of research for you to pursue... I'm more than happy to discuss your other points with you, but first I ask that you actually research what I said and come to own conclusion regarding what is actually written instead of relying on "most Christians" for your answers.. Before I do that though, I want your opinion of your own point #3, sound fair?
And for the record, in case you haven't seen some of my threads, I'll give you a "heads up" about some of my beliefs...
1. Jesus is NOT my savior and is NOT God...
2. I don't believe in hell...
3. Sacrifices, both animal and human, are sick and demented...
4. The Bible is NOT "infallible" and actually predicts it's own corruption...
5. God's "law" is written on the hearts of all men (YOUR conscience)...
