Tips to reduce Depression

I'm quite fat and have just gotten back into the gym and DDR could probably help because I fucking loathe cardio in a gym even though I am going to force myself to do it. I have found no better way to increase the function of my cardio vascular system than targeted cardio in the gym and that is my goal. I used to be able to recover in a few seconds from very strenuous exercise back when I was dancing professionally and hitting the gym regularly.

I love me some DDR. I have the Red Octane pad 4 DDR games, Konamix for the PS, and DDR Max, Max2 and Extreme for the ps2. I used to play a lot at my local arcade too. I got really good. I can play most songs on heavy up to 8 feet and a few 9 footer songs (Including Afranova primevil, and Tsugaru). I absolutely love DDR, it's so fun. Gallop steps are my favorite!

When I got a little overweight I was able to lose 20 pounds by DDRing everyday after work for my cardio. I was pretty happy about my weight loss but I injured my ankle last November and so I was even less active then before, avoiding things that would strain it and being generally lazy. I also began eating badly again and gained everything I lost back. T.T So now I'm in just about the same position I was last time I tried losing weight with an injury, limiting my options. I can't just DDR a lot, it bothers my knee too much. So I finally sucked it up and joined a gym, Planet Fitness. (It's very local, they were running a $1 startup special, $29 a year, $10 a mo, very low cost for a gym) So basically I joined the gym so I can use the elliptical because it's low impact on my knee. I also have the issue of being bored out of my mind, so my solution is podcasts. If I listen to a good atheist podcast, like I'm currently working my way through the Reasonable Doubts podcast, I can engage my mind and it makes it easy to distract myself from how long I've been on it. My gym also has TVs and little headphone machines and you can pick 1 out of 7 TVs to listen to, it's kind of neat.

I also joined Weight Watchers because I realized with my injury and stress, I need help. The first time I tried to lose weight I just straight calorie counted, it worked but this time I was slipping more. Weight Watchers makes me look at fat and fiber content and helps me figure out ways to eat more food, healthier foods for less points and still let's me splurge.

Been doing this for 2 weeks and I've lost 5 pounds. Big Grin

Depends on your taste. In my opinion the only music game better is Rock Band because it requires that you have friends. Some argue that's the best and worst aspect. XD

I hate In the Groove, too technical. DDR has better songs and doesn't go overboard. Hate Guitar hero. When I play the guitar, my hands hurt and it's just not as fun as drumming or singing, which is what I do when I play Rock Band. But in my heart, DDR is a classic and my favorite.
