The RCC has many weaknesses and as many problems. This embodies one of their problems. It's fine to have a policy in place, stating the Church's opinion on the matter. Anglican priests are allowed to ignore the sections of the Bible where Jesus himself states that divorce is only permitted for reasons attributed to pornea, and I'm allowed to believe they're in error on this without conflict and without controversy. Yet a 16-year old (who is still a developing adolescent) in the RCC isn't allowed to have his own opinion on a political matter that concerns events outside of the Church!
