Thought process behind atheism

Could someone explain to me why they are atheists? Like your logic thinking etc. Because I'm a christian and I would really like to at least understand your point of view.

I was raised Christian. Then I realised Muslims were raised Muslim and Jews were raised Jews... I noticed a trend in whatever environment you were brought up in generally equating to what religion you were.

As this universe is bigger than the environment I was brought up in, it is also bigger than the belief I or the 7 billion other people in this world were given.

I was quite happy as a Christian but I realise, like any other belief, it's just a ride. I'd love to hop on another, unfortunately I haven't found enough relatively objective reason or evidence to do so.
