The rule of 4 wives came at a time when there was no limit to having wives so if it was based on lust, then a limitation would have never been placed. Islam understands that there are more women than men in the world, so the idea of one man marrying another woman would never work to begin with, because there would be thousands of women who can't get husbands. This is a one percent difference. I don't see thousands of women who can't get married because all the guys are taken. Not to mention that the rule is FOUR wives meaning there should logically be 400% the women that there are men, and yet it is only 101%.
He just responded to you with a religious explanation about marriage and intent in Islam about having 4 wives, but is miffed that I brought up Islam?
He brings it in when it is convenient to his argument but wants it out when it isn't.

Why does anyone think they have the right to tell women what their roles should be? Shouldn't a woman get to decide for herself?
And if a woman refuses to follow the bun factory motif or wants an education, do they end up being shot like Malala?
So does that mean a Muslim woman living in the states cant be a cop or join our military?
