He meant that believers often do horrible things and call them moral. But you knew that didn't you?
That is taking things out of context. He was not saying hideous acts are moral. Dumb ass.
LOL @ the dumbass claiming "out of context"!!!
See if you can spot the pattern here.
A theist claims an atheist takes things "out of context" when they don't agree with the other's interpretation...

Fucking hypocrites...

You fucking said it, immoral or moral...
Care to explain how something you would consider "wrong" or "negative" could be considered "moral"???

Hey jackass,
This is not a label thing, this is a speces flaw issue we are talking about.
The cruelty humans have inflicted on each other has been done in the name of morality.
Burning witches for example, they did that thinking they were truly doing the right thing by saving the community from evil.
The 9/11 hijackers also, thought they were truly doing the right thing by murdering 3000 people because we were a threat to Islam and it was their moral duty to protect Islam.
That is what Hitchens meant and you damned well know it so do not try spin it.
Humans can truly believe a false claim and truly believe they are moral in protecting that falsehood. Otherwise the 19 hijackers really are moral. We know they are not, but from their point of view they think they were doing the noble thing.
It is the same reason Kamakasis slamed planes onto American ships in WW2. And why they were so dedicated to the Empire that when we got to the main land many committed suicide, which to them was the honorable thing, rather than surrender.
Many Japanese were so deeply indoctrinated they thought we would turn them into slaves and rape them. Truly believing that falsehood was on par with worship to the point suicide in their minds was the only right thing to do.
HUMANS CAN be dedicated to a falsehood and truly think they are being moral in defending that falsehood and do very horrible things to others thinking they are being moral.
