The Void Ray looks like a resource hog that will most likely get popped before it ramps up to its full capacity, but I guess that is the point, you have to defend or otherwise distract your enemy.

Indeed... my guess would be that you need some Phoenix and maybe occasional carrier support to use them right Kind of like the http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Mothership ... they are great assets if you have a balanced air force... but exclusively they suck Psionic storm a good enough distraction for you? HAHA ^_^ This game is gonna be awesome ^_^

My guess is that one would put say 4 of them in with a fleet assault, and let them focus target a single high-profile target (say battlecruiser?) while the rest of the fleet deals with other issues

Stalkers have O.P. written all over their spindly legs ^_^ Unlike everybody else: I'm the one that REALLY wants a beta key! ^_^ I looked through both the Terran and the Zerg units when I was done admiring the Protoss... and all I can say is: OMG O.O! Everyone is OP, which is why I love Starcraft ^_^
