Some of the mods are absolutely outstanding.

Why the Notch Ness Monster doesn't just get the likes of buildcraft, redpower, computercraft, and more added into the main game... I just don't know.

I'm not saying one is superior over the other, you were telling me that mods are superior and I'm saying vanilla ain't so bad. And of course it's could be replicated on a different server, but it hasn't been. I'm wondering if people want to play on this server for the people and the culture, not for having super-duper items or what have you. The mode (besides that it is survial) doesn't matter at all.

I am telling you that the mods are superior. Vanilla is still the same fun minecraft it's always been... but I don't have to hide behind saying it's the best minecraft can be to say I enjoy it.

Gods... I recently started a FTB game, and was in the middle of an ocean. Not even on an island. I had to desperately swim in one direction until I found grass, and barely was able to get bread on my tiny island. Spent a few hours just making sure I would be able to survive... no coal, no wood, just an (initially) 20x10ish strip of land peaking out of the ocean floor. So then, I have like 64 bread, and am all 'okay, I got dis', and swim out in that same direction until I hit another island, about the same size... but this one with a SINGLE TREE. Good fun

The people and the culture might be cool, and it might interest people... hell: I'm all about that culture and shit. But without a great deal of warfare/building options at your disposal, the whole thing just looks and feels 'bland'.
