Sex is a very frightening, scary, dirty thing to Christians. Jesus really wants you to loathe your body.
Remembering that religion is made up by controlling men, what really is the impetus for so many of the anti-sexual attitudes? Was it so that the there would always be enough guilt to feed the superstition? Was it because the Scripture authors wanted to exclude the women because the women knew the truth about the boastful and self pious buffoons that were pushing the original claptrap?
What motivation did the early authors have to write in the fear of sexual equality?
I'm often postulated that the greatest fear that a hetero man has is his sexual prowess is compared unfavorably by a woman. I think it is the biggest fear a man has, a side by side comparison, and due to that, he is desperate to keep his wife monogamous.
