the Nazis treated POWs better than the Japaneese did durning WWII, but in the end I do not think anyone would have willing surrendered their freedom to the Nazis if given the choice.

Without a true standard to compare oneself to, it's easy to say Y is better than X. For what is X really? X is a trivial measure at best, if X is not an absolute standard.
