Quote:I’d just suggest thoroughly examining your own motivations before talking to him about religion. Probably won’t end well.
It won't end well either way, sadly. To address his medical issues I must address his personal beliefs. I didn't make it that way, he did. I can of course choose not to address them, but I'm of the opinion that in this life we can choose to help alter the path that others have chosen to take and at the very least, be the last warning signal on their way. If you truly love them, they deserve nothing less.
For instance, my best friend and her husband were doing meth. When I found out, I told her mother and they did an intervention for her and not only did that save her marriage (and their daughter) but it changed their lives in ways I can't even fathom. She goes to school now. I'm not afraid to do what's right when I feel so so wrong doing it, because I know my motivations are purely love.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
