No sane person would disagree with the Qur'anic instructions of warfare. That is how we deal with those who beat the drums of war.

So...self-defense is okay. Gotcha. But...

(9/5) Then when the Sacred Months have passed, then kill the idol worshippers wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and prepare for them each and every ambush.

I'm not sure how this one suggests the idol worshippers were attacking anyone.

Self defense is fine. Offensive warfare is fine as well. Verse 9/5 calls for a pre-emptive strike and annihilation of the threat which is elaborated on by verse (9/13). In fact, both verses were revealed at the exact same time.
