There is unanimous consensus amongst all Muslim scholars in any era that the punishment for public apostasy (apostasy declared publically) is the death penalty, however, what they differed on is in what situation apostates are killed. The evidence presented is from the narration of Ibn Abbas who said that he heard the Prophet say "whoever changes his religion, kill him". However, the Prophet himself did not kill some apostates or order their killing so some scholars have argued that the killing of apostates is only ordered by an Islamic state in a situation of warfare, where one person's apostasy could compromise his or her allegiance to an Islamic state. Because of the academic nature of this discussion, I hope this answer suffices. I should mention tough, that vigilante justice is not permitted by unanimous consensus, nor is it allowed to execute an apostate who is outside of an Islamic state. In fact, apostates are granted the right to leave if they wish under all circumstances. This discussion is academic though, lots of varied opinions which you can read about.
Should apostates from Islam be put to death?
Should women be whipped or stoned as adulterers if they are raped?
Should blasphemers be put to death?
Should women be covered in public and what should their punishment be if they aren't?
Should a man be free to beat his wife for disobedience?
Should homosexuals be executed?
I wish to know what YOU think or believe, not the quaran or some mullah.
Thanks in advance.....
2. No.
3. Public Blasphemy comes under apostasy if it's done by a Muslim so see the answer to question number one. If a non-Muslim blasphemes publicly, then in a theoretical Islamic state they would be asked to recant. If they refuse, they would be executed.
4. Muslim Women should wear a head cover yes. Non-Muslims are not obliged to wear a head cover. There is no punishment in Islam for refusing to wear a head cover for either a Muslim or a Non-Muslim.
5. A man is allowed to strike her using a toothbrush as a last resort, but then again, women are allowed to dissolve the marriage (called khula') if they aren't happy with the man as it states in the Qur'an. Again, details are a bit academic here, with plenty of hadiths. In general, men who resort to striking women are the worst of men as the Prophet himself said and it usually ends in divorce.
6. Homosexuality in and of itself is not a sin. A homosexual who lives in an Islamic state, and engages in sodomy is not treated any differently to heterosexuals who engage in sexual intercourse either before or during marriage (extra-marital). So if a homosexual who isn't married has sodomy (there must be penetration) in front of four witnesses then they are flogged. If a married homosexual is caught having sex by 4 witnesses then they are executed, just as heterosexual adulterers would be executed as long as there are 4 witnesses.
