I remember the Social Workers with whom I worked and the position "rape is about power.Period." I thought it was bullshit then and still do.I concede that is probably the case in some or even many instances, but not all.
Science does not deal in absolutes, nor does social science. When it comes to human motivation it is a very brave or very foolish person who claims "X is caused by Y"
The propensity for rape may indeed be a hard wired evolutionary advantage, but that is an hypothesis,not an established theory supported by evidence. The same for the contention that rape is about power. Each may be partially or completely true,however,both claims seem to me to be unprovable and unfalsifiable.
