I don't read fiction really any more. I tried reading a Star Trek novel last year but I got disinterested. I read lots of professional books on music performance practice and theory.
Here's some of my collection of music books:
The Interpretation of Early Music. Donington.
The End of Early Music. Haynes.
Meter in Music. Houle.
Rhythm and Tempo. Sachs.
Counterpoint: The Polyphonic Vocal Style of the 16th Century. Jeppesen.
Compositional Theory in the 18th Century.
The Study of Counterpoint. Fux.
Bach and the Patterns of Invention. Dreyfus.
Musica Poetica. Bartel.
The Style of Palestrina and the Dissonace. Jeppesen.
The Study of Fugue. Mann.
Tonal Space in the Music of Antonio Vivaldi. Brover-Lubovsky.
Thorough-Bass Accompaniment According to Johann David Heinichen. Buelow.
On Playing the Flute. Quantz.
The Art of Accompaniment From a Thorough-Bass. Arnold.
