Strodel is a german surname, which has nothing to do with "der Strudel".
It probably has more to do with the surname "Strobl\Strobel"
and the word "strobel" derives from the word "strubbelig" which means scrubby.
I actualy thought at first that jstrobel was a german or from german descent.
Just like alot of other americans who have surnames like Bachman, Miller, Thorp or Tharp, Appel, Beck, Berg, Baumgartner and actualy any surname that ends with "mann", "man", "hard" and "gartner".
But to be fair, with such surnames one can also easily be of Dutch, Norwegian or Swedish descent.
