They could be a saint, now, but that doesn't mean their past activities don't carry possible present consequences.

A saint with a past would get tested before putting others at risk.

Catholic doctrine would work perfectly in a world where sexual drives didn't exist and marriages were entirely open affairs between two equal, rational and careful people done only out of mutual desire and love. In the real world, Catholic doctrine kills thousands by making a bad problem unnecessarily worse.

The problem wouldn't exist if people followed catholic doctrine.

If they had the ability to do that, do you doubt they would?

So, no, they haven't blocked the sale of condoms.

Instead, they simply scare poor, hungry and uneducated people with superstitious babble into effectively achieving the next best result.

And we're back to the beginning. Catholic doctrine isn't scary enough to stop people from extramarital sex, but it is strong enough to stop condom use? Completely idiotic position.

And, thousands and thousands die because of it.

Thousands and thousands die because they can't keep their pants on. If the church drops the ban tomorrow, thousands and thousands will still die, because they still won't keep their pants on.
