Well there's your answer right there are the end. Human beings are very good at self-delusion, and if they have a predisposition to not questioning those delusions, they're more likely to take them at face value.
As for angels themselves, well... If they DO exist, I take it that they look like this: (big image)
And if they look like that, I'm going to make it my life's goal to be a specialized Angel Fall From...Grace...Er. Yes. Fall-from-grace-er. I need to work on the job title a bit more.
