Leftover Pad Thai and sizzling beef and rice from the best little Thai restaurant down the street.

You're right, there is no substitute for fresh food for flavor, though some of the packaged stuff isn't half bad. Marie Callendar's makes a frozen roast chicken with mashed potatoes and corn that's actually pretty good, and they're usually under $2.
Considering that I think that most frozen food is barely fit for human consumption, that's a ringing endorsement.
