I wouldn't call it nature, but the fear to embarrassing oneself to the opposite sex (in the case of the mostly heterosexual audience I'd ascribe to be most likely in Christian Forums) is a big motivator to try to hide even on "public" forums. Splitting issues of men and women apart is a rather large and hamfisted access control to give perhaps a large, or maybe small, group of people a way to discuss items that may be offensive, embarrassing, or easily misinterpreted.
