I don't hate Dawkins - but it's a bit like if there was a Philosopher of religion who started pretending to be dead authoritative on Biology but really just had a little more knowledge than the next man (like about first year Uni)....
Biology professors would see the naïveté and basic nature of the work (as the educational establishment with Dawkins) but the public might think that this philosopher was writting at the top echelons of Biological study...
That's my gripe really.
A bit like Stalin when he spread atheism - it was for loads of reasons.
We all probably write here for a myriad of reasons.
My main reason for writting here is to help develop a more nuanced view of Muslims that is not just developed from secondary outside sources - in the hope that there is less bigotry.
The US might be a country where atheists are targeted but my country Scotland has a great history of Atheists (Hume for example) and really being atheist is nothing controversial: I therefore am not desperately trying to quash some 'new fan dangled phenomena.' Just quash the possibility of a circle jerk which Im sure a consistent atheist would welcome...
